That Old Chestnut Fair!
Long Eaton will once again welcome its ever popular Chestnut Fair, when the town centre will light up to the sights and sounds of the traditional street funfair.
This year’s fair will be held between Thursday 19 November and Saturday 21 November and will be given a funfair-style opening by the Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Val Custance.
Councillor Custance will officially open the 2015 event on Thursday 19 November at 6pm from the fairground favourite, the dodgems ride – which will be on Waverley Street.
The Chestnut Fair is now in its 16th year and features fair rides and stalls for all ages, from carousels for the young to the latest white-knuckle rides for daredevil fans. It runs along Waverley Street and through High Street and to the Market Place.
The fair is open from 6pm-10pm on Thursday 19 and 1pm-10pm on Friday 20 and Saturday 21.
Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:
“The Chestnut Fair is a wonderful tradition that is loved by people of all ages who look forward to enjoying some great family fun in the heart of the town centre. It is certainly a case of all the fun of the fair . . . so go along and enjoy!”
Motorists should note that there will be some disruption with Waverley Street closed to traffic and Cross Street, Union Street and the Market Place also affected.
