FREE Dog Health Checks

Erewash Borough Council has again joined forces with the PDSA animal charity to continue the community campaign to promote responsible dog ownership and animal welfare.

Erewash dog owners can take their four-legged friends for a FREE health check by a PDSA veterinary nurse that will cover body condition and weight, teeth and gums, eyes and ears, coat condition and general fitness.

The council’s Neighbourhood Dog Wardens will also be supporting the charity during the visits offering help and advice to dog owners. They will also be offering free dog micro-chipping which will be compulsory from 6 April 2016.

All four health check events will be held from 9am – 4pm at the following locations:

•    Tuesday 14 July - Cotmanhay Sure Start Children’s Centre Car Park, Beauvale Drive, Cotmanhay

•    Wednesday 15 July – Sawley Community Centre Car Park, off Draycott Road, Sawley

•    Thursday 16 July – Collingwood Recreation Ground, Cornwallis Close, Long Eaton

•    Friday 17 July – Ashbrook Community Centre, Ashbrook Avenue, Borrowash

Councillor Garry Hickton, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Environment, says:

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with the PDSA and welcome them back to our borough. Previous ‘roadshows’ have proved incredibly popular and we would encourage owners to go along to these latest visits to get their dogs checked out and find out from the experts about how they can keep their dogs healthy and happy.”

Cats Protection representatives will also be at the events offering £10 vouchers for owners to have their cats spayed and neutered. The vouchers are for cats only and owners can arrange for their pets to have the procedure at a later date – owners must NOT take their cats to the events.
